Let's Bop Across the Pond, Shall We
Welcome back let's examine and redesign Buckingham Palace, a place I have never had the pleasure of visiting. When I recently discovered the royal family and spent a moderate amount of time fixating on them with my spider senses. I attuned to a lot of wasted space.
For the sake of time and the fact that after I type these, I sit and hand write them out because initially my hands can't keep up as effectively as typing. We will focus on Buckingham Palace today.
Here are the rumors, I guess the building used to be the primary residence for the family, but after the grandmother they called Queen died, it seems that changed, and it was apparently unused and undergoing rounds of repairs ranging in millions of dollars, lighting and plumbing were mentioned.
I was drawn to the size of the building, being unused at a time when the British citizens are experiencing homelessness, extreme heat, food insecurity and an array of health and safety issues. I asked myself what this space could provide, here is what I conceived.
A community driven space.
First shift begins with the transitioning of the back garden, from a useless sitting area to a productive food garden. The following measurements I used quick google search to reference sizing and details so treat everything as an estimate, but this is what we are working with. 38 acres, with a lake, over 1000 trees and wildlife including bees are supported. It is primarily used for private leisure and private events hosting upward of 25k people.
This is where our agriculture and food specialists come in because this land could be repurposed as a food garden in support of wildlife, and human life over entertainment. Using the royal families existing food and farm model that they have practiced and perfected for 100's of years and extending it to society. This space could be used to grow food that would could be used in the existing kitchens and create a free cafeteria for citizens.
With the backyard and the kitchens, reutilized to grow, cook and provide food at no cost to the people in a sustainable fashion the family already exhibit's, it is an easy transition.
For the front yard, instead of empty space used for spectacle we could provide an array of community services. Shaded and shielded sittings areas, splash pads, an outdoor cinema, leisure activities a playground. Amenities that provide relaxation and entertainment that is usable and aligned with weather.
For the inside, there is really no end to the possibilities. Here are the ones I feel called to and imagine you will have many more, and don't worry they have room to spare! They love colonizing so I am sure they will welcome our changes upon arrival.
Education, Vocation and Trades, Wellness, Housing, Nutrition, Creative Development. Including: Library, with research tools. A skills lab to learn and revive trades. Photography studio with black room. A medical and veterinary clinic, fitness and wellness areas. Sauna, steam rooms, hot tubs, I am sure these already available in some capacity. Theater with auditorium, emergency housing for people. Used as a living shelter for unhoused animals. A greenhouse, a museum, an archival center, all for the people to explore.
Okay, I know I am rambling and your mind is scrambling. To........ How is she financing this?
Ok since I seem to have to do the heavy lifting here, the family is gonna have to do some liquidating. That's right the people are gonna vote on what stays and what goes, and the sales fund the future.
And we can't forget about the savings and repurposing of billions of dollars being filtered into the military industrial complex, still actively occupying lands. Once that project is cancelled and funds get reallocated to societal sustainability and use. Oh, shit did I just free the people? Oooops.
The additional layer here is foreign private equity giving up business holdings, i.e.. all-inclusive resorts throughout the Caribbean and transfer them to local leadership. Local rule, they can cancel or transition tourism on their lands.
That's a lot of money restored, a lot of dignity restored, a lot of potential for healing, and cultivating.
And good ground to leave you on.
P.S. I also resolved the exporting issues, created national industries that should support the tax system rather than individual, and it includes citizens presents, actual gifts!
