Alabama and Louisiana have held me dearly in misty clouds both in the air and the sky fog so thick the lights glare through. Bound inside, I take the weather in stride; the baby hawk alone, seeking nourishment from parents already flown; toads in despair, lucky I was there.

I’ve been out here all summer as the lifeguard no one asked for, scooping this wolf spider out of the pool at every stage of motherhood. 🙃 At first I questioned do we really need this many spiders? But alas, I chose the high road: nature deserves to thrive. And now, after seeing all those babies left behind… maybe this was her plan all along. Did I just disrupt her containment strategy? How very Alabama of me. 🕷️
