If you ask five people, their definition or idea of spirituality you will likely receive 5 very different answers. Spiritual wellness is our faith in a system outside of ourselves, it transcends religious beliefs and social norms and is a system of belief unique to us all. It gives us language, meaning, and purpose to explain and describe our existence both personally and collectively. Many people refer to this power by labeling it God, Goddess, Buddha, Jesus, Universe, Source, Higher Self/Power, and many more. Some people have a very strong spiritual belief with no label or name attached.
The practice of building a relationship with spirituality is something that happens in our own timing, it is formed through life experiences and methods of self-reflection. It is developed by taking time away from distractions like social media, tv, phone use, and even relationships to tune into ourselves. Practices like journaling or meditation where we can ask ourselves things like, what are my values, morals, and ethics? What are my beliefs around faith?
The importance of building a relationship with spiritual beliefs is to develop a relationship with our inner guidance system, to allow us to navigate the ebb and flow, highs and low’s that life ultimately presents to all of us in a peaceful and balanced way. To begin to describe who we are, where we are from, and why we are here.
