Jeanne Marie O'Keeffe

Note: This is the obituary I originally wrote for Jeanne Marie O’Keeffe in 2016. It was published in Legacy Remembers but is republished here in its full version as I wrote it—honoring her memory and legacy.

Jeanne Marie O’Keeffe (Minkle)
Topsfield, MA | Formerly of Malden
July 1962 – May 24, 2016

Jeanne Marie O’Keeffe (Minkle), of Topsfield and formerly of Malden, passed away peacefully at the age of 53 on May 24, 2016.

She was the cherished daughter of the late Frances and Joseph Minkle, and is survived by her devoted fiancé, Roland Biore of Topsfield, MA. She leaves behind her loving daughter, Lindsay Sargent, and son-in-law, Christopher Sargent, and her adoring granddaughter, Morgan Marie Sargent—all of Revere, MA. Jeanne is also survived by her dear brother, John Minkle of Malden, MA.

A graduate of Malden High School, Class of 1981, Jeanne went on to study at the Massachusetts College of Art, where she nurtured her talent for drawing and sketching. She was a gifted artist who appreciated creativity in all its forms.

An avid traveler, Jeanne once journeyed alone to Britain to experience the opera—an adventure she recounted with joy. She sang for many years in her church choir and held a deep love for the ballet, a passion she shared with her daughter, Lindsay.

In her youth, Jeanne was a skilled equestrian. That love continued into the next generation—one of her proudest moments was watching her granddaughter Morgan ride her first horse, taking to it with natural ease. Jeanne’s stories were often filled with memories of traveling abroad and visiting islands with her family and friends—memories filled with laughter, beauty, and warmth.

Jeanne’s radiant spirit, artistic heart, and unwavering love for her family will live on in those who knew and cherished her.
